What Are You Holding Onto That’s Holding You Back?
Have you ever held onto something so tightly — a relationship, a dream, a version of yourself — that you didn’t realize it was keeping you stuck?
It’s a hard truth to face: sometimes the very thing we’re clinging to is the thing that’s quietly keeping us from becoming who we’re meant to be.
Maybe it’s a relationship that once felt safe, but now drains the life out of you.
Maybe it’s the dream you had at 22, but you’ve outgrown it and feel guilty for changing.
Maybe it’s the old version of you — the always-accommodating, always-smiling woman who never rocked the boat — that you’ve outgrown but can’t seem to release.
Whatever it is, we hold on because it’s familiar. Comfortable. Predictable.
But comfort isn’t always clarity. And sometimes, God is gently inviting us to loosen our grip… so He can place something better in our hands.
Letting Go Doesn’t Mean Losing Yourself
As women, we’re often taught to hold things together — for our families, for our jobs, for our communities. But holding it all can come at the cost of holding ourselves.
Letting go doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re surrendering control and choosing to trust that God still has more for you. It means you’re making space for healing, clarity, and purpose.
A New Season Requires a New You
In Isaiah 43:19, God says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
God specializes in new. But if your hands are full of what used to be, how can you receive what’s next?
That version of you that overextends herself to be accepted?
That relationship you’ve been fighting to fix, even though it breaks you more each day?
That dream you had before life shifted, loss happened, or healing began?
You can bless what was — and still move on.
So, What Are You Holding Onto?
This is your gentle reminder:
You don’t have to carry it all.
You don’t have to prove your worth through pain.
You don’t have to stay stuck to be strong.
Take a moment today and ask God, “Is there anything I need to release to step into who You’ve called me to be?”
And then—trust Him with what He shows you.
